Raised by a single mother, attorney Anthony R. Reeves is a prime example of just how far anyone can go with true grit, determination and a dream. Anthony is the Founder and CEO of the Anthony Reeves Experience, a vehicle he created for tackling today’s critical issues and providing others resources for personal and professional growth.
While Anthony’s accomplishments are significant, his beginnings were humble. He was born an only child in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and raised by single mother, a school teacher who taught him the value of education and perseverance.
Although Anthony had several scholarship opportunities in his own home state and neighboring states, he chose to attend the University of Tampa, a prestigious private school in Florida. The problem: How would he pay for it? But leaning on the lessons he learned from his mother, with perseverance and determination (and some divine intervention along the way), Anthony found a way. He initially funded his education through student loans and college work study. By the beginning of his sophomore year, Anthony became a Resident Assistant and was eventually awarded an Army Reserved Officer Training Corps scholarship. In 1991, he graduated from the University of Tampa as an Army Reserve Officer with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He would go on to fund his post graduate studies and attain a Masters of Public Health from the University of South Florida and a law degree from Florida State University.
Now Attorney Reeves has spent over 21 years in public service, the last 11 of which he spent representing clients in obtaining disability benefits from the United States government. In addition, Anthony has worked with numerous educational foundations, disability organizations and HIV/AID service organizations.
He also hosts the widely popular online show, “Q&A: Social Security Disability Today”. With over 100,000 views, this weekly interactive has become a useful tool for those interested in getting their questions answered about their disability benefits. In addition, he is the host of “IN THE KNOW with Tony Reeves”, a popular monthly internet radio program that tackles the tough topics such as race, politics, and gender issues. Some of the featured guests on the show include Dominique Dawes, George Fraser, and Kashif.
His views have been solicited by media outlets as diverse as ABC Action News, La Prensa Mexicana, and West Orlando News. A popular speaker, Anthony Reeves’s inspiring talks on success principles, effective reputation-building, educational goal-setting and valuing diversity, are as popular as his frequent speeches on successfully developing and processing a disability claim.
